Student Success Scholarship Application 2023-2024

The Davidson-Davie Community College Foundation offers competitive, merit-based scholarships to deserving graduates at Davidson-Davie Community College. The scholarship is to be used as assistance for completion, helping to eliminate some of your outstanding educational costs, as well as preparing you for your career; or as support to transfer to an advanced degree program of study.

You must complete the entire application and have it submitted by midnight on Sunday, March 17, 2024, to be considered for the scholarship. PLEASE NOTE: A letter of recommendation from an instructor/Davidson-Davie employee is also required by March 17, so plan accordingly.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

  1. Current Davidson-Davie Community College student graduating from a curriculum program in May 2024 (or Dec. 2023 if you finished early). Note: if you have 1 or 2 classes to take during the summer in order to complete your degree, you can still be eligible; please let us know on the application.
  2. Minimum of 1 semester attended/completed at Davidson-Davie CC (so that you’ll have a cumulative GPA with us)
  3. 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA at Davidson-Davie CC (program GPA may also be considered in certain circumstances). Please note this does not mean term/semester GPA–it means your overall GPA.
  4. Completion of the online scholarship application (including a letter of recommendation from an instructor/Davidson-Davie employee) by the deadline
  5. Completion of the online application to graduate – usually due by mid or late March (more info found here: Graduation Info – keep an eye on this page for updates
  6. Participation in a virtual or in-person interview in April if selected as semi-finalist
  7. Please note: CCP High School/Dual Enrolled, Early College, Valley Academy, and continuing education students are NOT eligible.

DEADLINE TO HAVE EVERYTHING SUBMITTED: Sunday, March 17, 2024 by Midnight

SELECTION PROCESS:
A selection committee at Davidson-Davie Community College will review completed applications after the March 17 deadline. You will be asked to participate in a REQUIRED virtual or in-person interview in April; once an interview date is selected we will notify you & ask you to be sure to plan ahead to be available. The students selected for the scholarships will be notified in May and announced at graduation.

  • (Reminder: minimum cumulative GPA requirement for this scholarship is 3.50 as of the end of fall 2023. Program GPA may be considered if cumulative GPA is not at least a 3.50 after fall semester, but program GPA is still at least 3.50. Term/semester GPA does NOT count.)

Microsoft Word document) to this application which includes the instructor/employee name & state that the letter will be emailed to Kristi.

  • What do you consider your most important learning experience while at Davidson-Davie, either inside or outside the classroom? (No word minimum or maximum; however, the more detail you can include, the better. Also, it is recommended that you save your responses in a separate location in case your application doesn't successfully submit).
  • What plans do you have after you graduate? Are you planning to transfer to another college to pursue an advanced degree? Are you planning to pursue a career in the degree you earned at Davidson-Davie Community College? (No word minimum or maximum; however, the more detail you can include, the better.
