The Thomas G. and Mary Link Briggs Memorial Scholarship was established in August 2001 as a result of a significant contribution to the Davidson-Davie Community College Foundation upon the death of Mary L. Briggs. The scholarship program supports 2nd-year Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) and LPN-to-ADN students by reducing their need to work while completing the program.
Award Amount: Three scholarships each valued at $3,000 ($1,500/semester for 2025 fall and 2026 spring). Funds may be used for tuition, books, fees, supplies, or living expenses. This award or some portion of it may be considered taxable income depending on the recipient’s own financial situation.
Eligibility Requirements: Eligible students are those in the 2nd year of the ADN program, or the LPN-to-ADN program, who have completed their first year and plan to graduate in May or July 2026. FAFSA completion is required, and applicants must be demonstrating Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). A fully completed scholarship application is also due by the deadline listed below (late applications will not be considered!).

How will the selection be made? Awards are based on academic promise, leadership, community involvement, perseverance, and financial need. Selection is made by a committee of Davidson-Davie faculty and staff.
